Q:  I need OS 9 and OS X 10.2 iTunes support for a Toshiba Notebook SD-R2312 (24x10x24x and 8x DVD) Combo Drive
A:  (from the Dec. 16th, www.xlr8yourmac.com news page)

Elmar Waldschmitt sent modified support files edited for the Toshiba SD-R2312 (24x10x24x and 8x DVD) notebook Combo drive. He sent both a modified OS 9.x ToshibaCDR file and Toshiba OS X 10.2.x Plugin file. (Note to other webmasters - please link to this FAQ page and not the files directly.) The ToshibaCDR file replaces the one already in the System Folder/Extensions/Authoring Support folder (OS 9.x) and the Toshiba plugin file in OS X (use Sherlock to search for the plugin filename location - very long path in OS X).

" Hi Mike,
this is another modified Plug-in for your database and the Mac community.
I have put the brand new Toshiba SD-R2312 (24x10x24x and 8x DVD) Combo into my iBook 500 Dual USB to replace the original CD-ROM. After having modified the Toshiba CDR plugin in MacOS X 10.2.2 and the authoring support file in OS 9 it does everything an orig. "Apple" OEM Combo would do: Both, in OS 9.1 an X 10.2.2 (test configuration) it boots, it supports finder and iTunes burning, it is been supported by Toast Titanium 5.2 without any probs.
The Toshiba drive has two big advantages over the TEAC DW-224E I built into my previous iBook a couple of days ago. The Toshiba drive supports cable select, so you don't have to change the firmware and second the original Apple drive door (around 35A/$) fits perfectly without any modifications.
Best regards Mike. I really enjoy your site!
Elmar"

Like all 'unofficial' mod. files - they are provided as-is with no warranty or guarantee although they should work fine. (Remember OS X won't allow you to replace files like this due to permissions issues - simpliest is to boot to OS 9 to replace the file for OS X.)
(NOTE: OS X 10.1.x plugin files do not work with 10.2.x, so I assume the 10.2.x plugin files won't work if you're running 10.1.x.)

Note: Like all 'unofficial' mod. files - they are provided as-is with no warranty or guarantee. (You can't replace the existing file under OS X due to permissions unless you use the terminal to enable root user, or do a get-info on the file to change permissions temporarily, or just reboot into OS 9 and replace the file.)
